How to Initiate Public Involvement in Health Research: Launch of the 'Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE)' Toolkit
Date and time: 31 March 2026 | 09:30 - 11:00 GMT
How can a patient advisory group be established for research? Where can potential members be identified? What does a compensation policy for public contributors look like, and where should the process begin?
The Ziauddin University Patient & Public Involvement and Engagement group in Pakistan developed a toolkit to address these questions. The toolkit provides practical guidance and ready-to-use templates covering all stages of setting up a public involvement initiative in health research.
This launch event will include an introduction from the development team, and presentations from researchers in Pakistan, Ireland, India, and Japan who have piloted the toolkit. The team will also outline how the toolkit can support the initiation of public involvement initiatives in health research across different global contexts.

Brazil has over 900 research ethics committees, all of which require qualified professionals. To help meet this demand, leading Brazilian training initiatives in research ethics and integrity have been developed, including the Fiocruz Open Course on Research Ethics and Integrity and the Postgraduate Programme in Bioethics, Applied Ethics and Collective Public Health (PPGBIOS). This webinar will showcase these initiatives. The session will feature presentations from Professor Mariana Conceição de Souza, Professor Sergio Rego, and technologist Cíntia Lanzarini from the Brazilian National Cancer Institute (INCA), who will share insights on institutional policies and scientific integrity.
The webinar is part of The Global Health Network Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) monthly series on ethics and integrity, coordinated by the Etikos Foundation. It provides a valuable platform for knowledge exchange among professionals across the region. Read more

The "Engaged Institution": Transforming policies and academic culture for science in society
Date and time: 1 April 2026 | 12:00 - 13:30 BST
The traditional "ivory tower" model of scientific research is increasingly being replaced by a paradigm that values inclusivity, trust, and societal relevance. While Community and Public Engagement (CPE) has garnered attention as a critical element of the research ecosystem, its implementation often remains peripheral in research functions. In this second webinar of a four-part series, we sustain discussion on how to "Institutionalize" CPE within the African research context. This webinar will explore the necessary "systemic turn" required to shift CPE into a structural, sustainable part of the scientific research system - from organizational strategy, to developing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and building the evidence base through Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL).

Bridging the cancer care gap survey: Share your insights and priorities on cancer research
The Global Cancer Research Hub invites you to share your views on the barriers and gaps that exist across cancer care, from screening and diagnosis to treatment and clinical research.
By capturing perspectives on priority cancers, challenges, capacity needs, and opportunities, the survey aims to highlight areas where training, infrastructure, and policy support can strengthen cancer care and research, and to identify potential partners for collaborative action. The results from the survey will help inform future resources and activities on the Global Cancer Research Knowledge Hub. It takes an estimated 10-15 minutes.
